Acer Aspire E15 vs Acer Aspire 5 Detailed Comparison
Design & Make
When thinking of design in particular, none of these laptops is sleek. Both are heavy and thick, however the weight of both these is manageable. You can easily carry them around in your backpack. This sort of weight won’t be an issue unless of course you want to spend more and get yourself a thin laptop. The Aspire 5 and E15 are some of the widely used laptops from Acer, a large number of units are sold and there hasn’t been any major complaint about the weight so far.
However, when the two of them are compared, the Aspire 5 wins because it is a tad lighter and thinner. It comes with 4.85 pounds of weight and 0.9 inches thick is its height. The E15 on the other hand is a bulky machine, it weighs 4.9 pounds and is 1.2 inches thick. This mostly is because the Aspire E15 is home to a higher number of ports and a DVD-RW as well. When talking about the looks of these laptops, they both look more or less same from the inside. But when compared as a whole, the Aspire 5 looks sort of a modern day laptop.
Performance
Perform wise the laptops are almost equal, this is because both of them pack the same specs. Both of them sport the same 8th Intel Core-i5 Processor and 16GB RAM. Besides the storage room is same for both these laptops but the E15 packs an M.2 SSD which obviously means more speed and better performance.
As for the graphics, both come with dedicated Nvidia MX150 card which is considered good for graphical power. By having this GPU under the hood, you can also go for casual gaming and other graphic intensive tasks. So we can say that in regards to specifications, both these laptops will perform at same level. But this is on the books, because when things like display and other things are taken into account then the performance will be different.
Display
Again, both Aspire 5 and Aspire E15 rock the same beautiful 15.6 inches FHD display. But when viewed, they are different. The Aspire 5 comes with a brighter display which will help out out even in places where the surrounding light is bright. On the other hand, the E15 has a dim display but does more than justice with color accuracy. So for tasks which involve graphical work, the E15 wins. However, for things like reading and giving presentations the Acer Aspire 5 would be a perfect choice.
Connectivity
These laptops from Acer leave nothing behind when comparing them for connectivity purposes. The E15 clearly wins here because it has all the ports which the Aspire 5 has and is home to two extra ports. On the Aspire E15 you will meet 3 USB-A ports, two of which are USB 2.0 and one is 3.0. Besides, it has a USB-C, HDMI, VGA, SD Card Reader, Headphones jack and you might not believe it, but a DVD-RW as well. These ports and DVD-ROM might be the reason for its thick design. But such port configuration is more than enough for any sort of connectivity.
On the other hand, the Aspire 5 comes with lower number of ports and no DVD-ROM. It is home to 3 USB-A ports, an HDMI, SD Card Reader, a USB-C, headphones jack and an Ethernet port too. The LAN port might not be of great importance here but you get it on the Aspire 5 for Ethernet connection. Anyway, both these are a good configuration of external connectivity but they lack Thunderbolt 3 which is a must these days. However, for a lower budget and old laptops, you do not get one.

Battery Life
For battery backup the Aspire E15 wins because it has a powerful battery. Although both come with same specs and will consume more or less same amount of power but the E15 still gives you around 3 hours more battery backup.
The Aspire 5 packs a 48Wh battery and is able to give you around 7 hours backup on regular use. This can not be considered bad but other laptops at the same price level can go higher than 8 hours. Whereas, the E15 gives you over 10 hours of battery backup which is because it packs a high capacity battery which is 62Wh. And among many other reasons, the battery of E15 is the reason for higher weight of the E15.
Audio
Both laptops come with loud speakers and can be easily heard in large rooms on the other end. However, the speakers of the E15 gets the sound a bit distracted when heard at loud volume. Those of the Aspire 5 are better even at louder volume. One can not simply call these speakers the best. Both laptops have good sound but not the best, because most new laptops are capable of producing better and sweet sound.
Final Words
Both the Acer Aspire 5 vs Acer Aspire E15 go head to head at most places. In regards to the design, the Aspire 5 wins. But when compared in regards to performance, the E15 is a bit better because of all the power and I/O connections that it has. If your work involves moving around a lot then the Acer Aspire 5 will be a better option for you. However, if your laptop mostly stays at your table and there is a very little chance of moving it around then you should be going for the E15.
